Calculating Magnification

A: Magnification is determined by the focal length of the scope's objective lens and the focal length of the eyepiece (in combination).


Please note the formula for calculating the magnification of your scope:


focal length of scope objective ÷ focal length of eyepiece = magnification


For Example:

500mm (scope’s objective lens focal length) ÷ 10mm (eyepiece focal length) = 50X magnification.


This simple formula helps the user determine which eyepieces provide the most effective magnifications with their scope.
