Setting up Your Binocular

Q: How do I set up my binocular for viewing?

A: Both binocular barrels must be individually adjusted to sharply focus for each eye (focus-aligned). Because vision correction is usually somewhat different from person to person (and from one eye to the other), each different user must adjust focus alignment for their particular vision. Make sure eyecups are adjusted to your particular eye relief.

Adjust focus for your left eye - first:

1. Acquire a target subject to set your focus on.
2. Cover only the right eyepiece or objective lens with a cap. Look through the left eyepiece with your left eye.
3. Using the main focusing knob, sharply focus on your target subject. Afterward, do not touch the main focusing knob.

Adjust focus for your right eye:

1. Remove the right lens cap and now cover only the left eyepiece or objective lens with a cap. Look through the right eyepiece with your right eye.
2. Turn the diopter adjustment ring (or knob in certain models) to sharply focus on your target subject.

Both eyepieces may now be simultaneously focused with only the main focus knob of the binocular. Properly aligned focus makes viewing comfortable and focusing easy.
