The Photo is Too Dark Even with Flash (Optio E80)

Q: Why is the photo too dark on my Optio E80 even though the flash fired?

A: The most likely cause is the subject is too far away and in a dark location. If the subject is too far away, the picture becomes dark because the light of the flash does not reach the subject.

Use the following as a guide to flash photography:

Wide-angle: Approx. 0.1 to 5.0 m (.33 to 16.4 feet)
Telephoto: Approx. 0.6 to 2.7 m (1.97 to 8.85 feet) (with Auto selected as the ISO setting)
