Optio WG-1 GPS - Battery Usage
Q: I’ve turned my camera off, yet every so often I notice the light on the ON/OFF switch keeps blinking. Does this have to do with the GPS feature?
A: Yes. If the GPS function in the Optio WG-1 GPS camera is enabled, it will continue to acquire a GPS position every 15 minutes after the camera is turned off. This is done to minimize the delay in acquiring position information when the camera is turned back on.
To minimize battery drain with the Optio WG-1 GPS camera, activate GPS Logging only when logging is needed and turn off GPS Logging before switching the camera off for the day.
Note: if GPS is enabled, it is not necessary to have GPS Logging turned on for the camera to record basic GPS information as part of the picture file.
